Season Review 2010-11

What can I say about 09/10, it was so enjoyable!A most impressive season that saw us bring the much deserved cup home to Railway. We said goodbye to Hilary and Blaithin and welcomed Brona, Mini and Sarah. Tanya hung up her jersey for the year to be our assistant coach.
In the league we won nine games, drew five and lost four. A big improvement on last year! Our Cup campaign started off with an away game to Diocesan, then we went to Tullamore which included penalty strokes, then to Suttonians for a very exciting and nail biting semi final. So then it was off to Grange Road for the big final V the old rivals Pembroke! Tensions were high as we had lost to them twice in the league, but the attitude and determination of the fourths meant we weren’t going home with silver. An exciting game saw the winning goal come from Mini just 3 minutes from time. It was a fantastic game with a sea of yellow there to support in the sunshine.
Laura, Lorna and Jane took on the job of co-ordinating our fundraiser this year. It was a great cookbook that included recipes submitted from all the club. They did trojan work on it with Jane being involved in it’s design. All the team got involved with the launch and selling copies. We still have some left so if anyone didn’t get one let us know!
Well done to Laura Meade who was our Player of the Year! Please come back to us!!! Thanks the girls who consistently played two matches every week, troopers! We also really appreciated all the work by Mary, Fiachra and Tanya.
