RU 5th XI Win Over TRL

We had a feeling it was going to be a good day when we got promoted to show off our silky smooth skills on the front pitch in Marley on Saturday afternoon.  We felt like we were participating in a cup final and our game faces were on!
It was a fast paced game, considering we were trying to run off the over indulgence from Christmas.  We eventually got a break late into the 1st half with a short corner opportunity, which was passed out to Jenny, on to Jonty and Emer got a reverse touch to it into the goal.  The pressure continued for the rest of the first half.
Jenny scored two goals early in the second half both from opportunities created by Sarah. The first a reverse touch and the second was a rebound from an excellent direct strike by Sarah. There was no let up at any stage and even when we were ahead by 3 goals Rovers where still fighting back.   They netted one halfway through the second.  Our final goal was when Emer got a touch to a ball from an amazing strike by Niamh just outside the circle.
An excellent all round team performance and a great start to the second half of the season!
